It’s Not (Really) About the Barbie Movie…It’s About Kindness

Life coaching with a heavy dose of MOM coming here... I'm perplexed why people feel the need to put negative posts up about things they simply aren't interested in

I've seen a few "Marked safe about giving a single sh*t about the Barbie movie today" posts on social media, like the ones that are popular after an emergency situation. REALLY? 👎

I can appreciate that Barbie may not be your thing. You may think it looks frivolous and that's your prerogative.

Y'all there are SO many things I could give a hoot about that you are interested in. BUT here's the difference: I realize that it's something you ARE interested in, something that makes YOU HAPPY, YOU ENJOY DOING, etc. Who am I to belittle or make snarky comments about it!

We all have different interests and that's what makes us interesting. 🌻

If you see something you don't like, aren't into, or disagree with...scroll by! And you sure as heck don't need to make a big announcement about every movie you aren't going to see, the book you aren't going to read, the artist you'd never see in concert.

When you do, not only are you putting unnecessary negativity into the world, but you are also seeking to diminish the enthusiasm of those who DO CARE about the topic!

Whatever happened to: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." 🤷‍♀️

For the record, as somebody who HAS ACTUALLY SEEN the Barbie movie 💕, I loved it, had a smile on my face the entire time, laughed out loud, had a fun afternoon with girlfriends, and even enjoyed dressing up!

(I saw a comment from one woman saying that she was sick of seeing people dressing up for the movie and “don't they have anything better to do with their time?” My response - Dressing up and having fun with my friends... no, I don't have anything better to do!)

From those who HAVE SEEN the movie, I've only heard one person say they didn't enjoy the movie. And that's okay! I value her opinion and appreciate that she didn't feel the need to slam it before seeing it.

This post really isn't about Barbie, it's about KINDNESS and APPRECIATING that we all have different interests and that's what makes us unique and interesting! ✨
